Story
Switching voltage regulator (LM2576)
Short description
The integrated fixed / adjustable regulators (ADJ) operating in switching mode are of the "step-down" (LM2575 / LM2576) and "step-up" (LM2577) type, respectively.
This series of regulators is also notable for its very good efficiency, over 80%, and for a decrease in dissipated power, which is good enough arguments to use them instead of the classic 3-terminal stabilizers. Usually, these stabilizers do not require a cooling radiator, and if we still want to mount one, it will be much smaller than in the case of old stabilizers.
These integrated circuits are delivered in a 5-pin TO220 type capsule (LM257x-T) - adjustable voltage variant (ADJ) or in a 4-pin TO-3 type capsule (LM257x-K) - with a fixed output voltage.
