Story
Wearable IoT devices often operate in harsh environments where standard smartwatch housings are not sufficient. This project presents a rugged, 3D-printable smartwatch enclosure designed specifically for IoT and embedded applications such as industrial monitoring, field data collection, and prototyping.
The enclosure is easy to customize, and optimized for desktop 3D printers.
Features
-
Designed for wrist-mounted IoT devices
-
Rugged industrial look and structure
-
Parametric design (OpenSCAD)
-
Optimized for FDM 3D printing
-
Side button cutouts
-
Standard 22 mm strap lugs
-
Suitable for outdoor use (PETG / TPU)
Use Cases
-
IoT sensor hubs
-
ESP32 / Nordic / STM32 wearable projects
-
Industrial or construction wearables
-
Research & prototyping platforms
-
DIY smartwatches
The enclosure is designed for FDM 3D printing and can be printed without supports.
Recommended materials:
-
PETG – durability and weather resistance
-
TPU – shock absorption and flexibility
After printing, the case can be sealed with a rubber gasket and transparent acrylic or glass for basic water resistance.
This project provides a solid starting point for anyone building wearable IoT hardware
