Story
The 100 -150A High-Performance and Long-Endurance Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) is a versatile, high-efficiency motor control platform designed to deliver reliable power management, precise motor control, and extended operating endurance across a wide range of electric-powered applications.
The project focuses on developing a robust ESC capable of handling high current loads while maintaining efficient power conversion, effective thermal management, and stable motor operation. Designed for compatibility with AM32 firmware and BetaFlight, the ESC aims to provide flexible configuration, responsive motor control, and integration with modern flight controllers, embedded control systems, and other compatible electronic platforms.
Key Features
- High-current capability: Support motor systems with a target continuous current rating of 100A continuous and 150A Surge current.
- Long-endurance operation: Minimize electrical losses to improve battery utilization and extend operating time.
- Advanced motor control: Provide responsive and stable electronic commutation for compatible brushless DC (BLDC) motors.
- Firmware compatibility: Support AM32 and Betaflight-compatible configurations, protocols, and hardware requirements.
- Thermal optimization: Implement an efficient PCB layout, low-loss power 300A Vishay MOSFETs, and an appropriate cooling strategy.
- Electrical protection: Incorporate suitable protection against overcurrent, overheating, undervoltage, and other relevant fault conditions where supported by the design.
- Multi-application flexibility: Develop a reusable ESC platform suitable for different propulsion and robotic systems.

Long-Endurance Design Strategy
Long endurance is a central design goal of the project. The ESC will be optimized to reduce energy losses throughout the power-conversion and motor-control process.
The development strategy includes selecting low-loss 300A Vishay MOSFETs, optimizing gate-drive voltage and switching characteristics, minimizing parasitic inductance, improving PCB current paths, and High power density top side cooling package.
