The DIY Heating Booster helps you get more out of your existing radiator – without modifying your heating system. An ESP32 controls 12V fans mounted underneath the radiator, automatically turning them on when the radiator gets warm to efficiently distribute heat throughout the room. The control logic works standalone with a local temperature sensor, but can also be fully integrated into Home Assistant. Perfect for cold spots, smart upgrades, and energy-saving DIY solutions.
Story
The DIY Heating Booster is a smart add-on for traditional radiators that helps distribute warm air more efficiently throughout the room. Powered by an ESP32 or ESP8266 running ESPHome, it uses 12V fans mounted underneath the radiator to push rising warm air forward – automatically, silently, and energy-efficient.
A temperature sensor attached directly to the radiator detects when it's active. Once the set temperature threshold is reached, the fans turn on and help accelerate heat circulation. Fan speed is controlled via PWM and can be scaled based on radiator temperature.
The system works completely standalone but can optionally be integrated into Home Assistant to include room temperature or target climate settings.
